Requirements For Registered Marriage Celebrants (RMC) Applicants

• It is desirable for the applicant to be over 40 years of age.

• The applicant must be an Australian Citizen and reside in Australia or an Australian Permanent Resident of at least three years duration.

• The applicant must be a practicing Buddhist.

 

• The applicant must provide details of two (2) referees who can vouch for their character Applicant must have a supporting Buddhist establishment who will write a letter of support.

• Applicant's supporting Buddhist establishment must be a current member of one of the member State Buddhist Councils affiliated with the F.A.B.C.

• Applicant must acknowledge that their authority to remain an RMC depends on the ongoing support of their supporting organisation and the F.A.B.C.

• Applicant must agree to do annual professional development to the same level as what the Australian Attorney General requires for Civil Celebrants.

• Applicant must pay a nominating fee of $300.

• Applicant must agree to pay an annual fee of $120 to help pay for administration costs.

• Applicant is expected understand and be across all the details of the Marriage Act as outlined in the Guidelines on the Marriage Act for Marriage Celebrants, as set out in the Attorney Generals Web Page.

• Applicant must agree to follow the rules outlined in the Celebrants Code of Ethics. See Attorney Generals Web Page.

• The applicant is responsible to provide all of their own paperwork, forms and registers that are available for sale from the Attorney Generals stationers at Can Print.
