The Federation of Australian Buddhist Councils is a national peak body, with Buddhist state councils as our members, and work to provide a Buddhist voice at national level and advocate on issues that affect the Buddhist and communities. We also work with other faith bodies, government and non-government organisations on issues of peace and justice, bringing a Buddhist perspective to issues that affect the community as a whole.

The combined membership of the three state Buddhist councils represents more than 200 Buddhist temples and organisations nationwide, their members include the majority of more than 615,000 Australian Buddhists.

The FABC works closely with the Australian Sangha Association (the peak body representing ordained Buddhist Australians) developing and promoting Buddhism in Australia and work in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding between our two organisations.

The current FABC President is Dr Diana Coussens, OAM, of the Buddhist Council of Victoria.
